The incident reportedly occurred along Uselu–Isuada Road in Owo after a nylon bag was said to have been blown by the wind into the suspect’s compound, sparking a disagreement between the two neighbours.
According to residents of the area, the retired vice principal, identified as Alhaji Abdullahi Kasim Ayodele, accused the deceased of deliberately throwing the nylon into his compound. The accusation reportedly led to a heated argument between the pair across the fence separating their houses.
Witnesses said the situation escalated when the suspect, accompanied by his son, allegedly left his residence and went to the woman’s house in anger.
Eyewitnesses told Starnews NG that the suspect picked up a bench in front of the victim’s residence and allegedly used it to attack her, while his son was also said to have assisted during the assault.
Sources further disclosed that the woman was on the phone with her husband when the attack occurred. She reportedly collapsed during the incident and was later confirmed dead.
The spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect has been arrested.
Jimoh added that the police had commenced investigation into the matter to determine the full circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
