The Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, , has called on the Federal Government to either release detained IPOB leader or subject Islamic cleric to the same treatment in the interest of fairness.
Speaking during a church gathering, Ayodele questioned what he described as the disparity in the government’s handling of both figures, arguing that equal standards should be applied in matters relating to national security and public order.
According to him, the continued detention of Kanu while Gumi remains free raises concerns about consistency in the government’s approach.
“The Nigerian government should release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Since you keep Kanu in prison, why can’t you keep Sheikh Gumi in prison too?” Ayodele said in a video message circulated online.
He further maintained that if the government believes Kanu should remain in custody, then similar action should be considered against Gumi to demonstrate impartiality.
“You keep Nnamdi Kanu, but Gumi is free. Then, how do you want to manage the government?” he asked.
The cleric also warned that perceived unequal treatment of individuals involved in sensitive national issues could fuel public dissatisfaction and trigger protests against the administration of President .
“If Nnamdi Kanu is there, then go and take Gumi. Then Nigerians will believe that the government is serious. Protest will seize this Tinubu government,” he stated.
Ayodele’s comments come amid ongoing public debate over Kanu’s detention and broader discussions surrounding security, justice, and national unity in Nigeria.
