LAGOS, Nigeria | October 14, 2026. Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has publicly appealed to President Bola Tinubu and his son, Seyi Tinubu, to pay him additional money following his participation in an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Lagos.
The singer made the demand in a video circulating on social media after the political gathering at Onikan Stadium on Tuesday, October 13, where he entertained supporters and moved around the venue as part of the campaign activities.
In the footage, Portable appeared exhausted and was seen lying on the floor while asking to meet the President and his son. His manager, Babylov, was also seen attempting to help him get back on his feet.
“I want to see Tinubu and Seyi Tinubu; they have almost squeezed me to death. I have fainted. Did we not collect money? Tinubu, pay me more money; I am feeling so much heat,” the singer said.
Reports following the event suggested that Portable had fainted amid the heat and overcrowding at the venue. However, the precise circumstances surrounding the reported incident have not been independently established.
The singer acknowledged that he had already received payment for attending the rally but argued that the physical strain he experienced warranted additional compensation. The amount he received and the terms of his engagement were not disclosed.
Neither Tinubu nor Seyi Tinubu had publicly responded to the singer’s demand in the reports available at the time of publication.
Portable’s appearance at the rally has also drawn attention to the participation of entertainers in political mobilisation ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general election.
