Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command attached to Tilden Fulani Divisional Headquarters have arrested two suspected motorcycle thieves during a joint operation carried out in collaboration with a local quasi-security outfit in Toro Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects, identified as Yunusa Haruna, 32, of Tilden Fulani, and Awaisu, 27, of Kakun-Sama area in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, were reportedly arrested on May 9, 2026, at about 10:00 p.m. during a coordinated patrol around Diriko area of Tilden Fulani.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib, the suspects were apprehended with two Jincheng motorcycles suspected to have been stolen.
Police said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly confessed to engaging in motorcycle theft since 2024 and admitted to stealing about four motorcycles which were reportedly sold at a market in Plateau State.
The statement further disclosed that the motorcycles recovered during the operation were allegedly stolen from Tele area of Tilden Fulani.
The Command stated that investigation is ongoing to arrest the alleged receiver of the stolen motorcycles and recover other stolen items linked to the suspects.
Police also confirmed that the suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation for offences bordering on criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass and theft.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the collaboration between the police and local security partners, describing it as instrumental to the success of the operation, while urging residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts aimed at tackling crime across the state.
