The Osun State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects in connection with two separate incidents involving alleged violent crimes in Modakeke and an attack on the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
The command said four of the suspects were arrested in Modakeke, Ife East Local Government Area, over allegations bordering on conspiracy, attempted murder, assault occasioning harm and unlawful possession of prohibited firearms.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi on Wednesday, the suspects were apprehended by operatives at about 2am on August 9, 2026, following a petition received by the Commissioner of Police.
Those arrested were identified as Olufemi Olatunji, 39; Ajayi Idowu, 31; Akingbala Oluwakemi, 40; and Adekunle Basirat, 40.
Police searches conducted at the suspects’ residences and business premises reportedly resulted in the recovery of two firearms.
The command said a locally manufactured cut-to-size firearm was recovered from Basirat’s shop, while a pump-action gun was recovered from Oluwakemi’s residence.
The police further identified Basirat as the wife of Solomon Akinlabi, popularly known as “Indomine”, while Oluwakemi was identified as the wife of Akingbala Akindele, alias “Ostand”.
The four suspects, according to the command, remained in police custody and were assisting investigators in establishing the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting the police with the ongoing investigation,” Ojelabi said.
In a separate operation, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit arrested six suspected members of an unlawful society following reports of an alleged invasion of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
The incident reportedly involved armed hoodlums and left two students injured.
The suspects were identified as Ajoba Akorede, 27; Adam Oseni, 27; Ogunrinde Ayomide, 21; Ogunlana Muheez, 26; Ajose Noah, 25; and Adeniyi Damola, 25.
During interrogation, the command said Akorede and Oseni admitted belonging to the Aye confraternity.
Police, however, said investigations were still ongoing to determine whether the two suspects were students of the institution.
The command said the two cases remained under investigation, adding that all suspects found culpable would be prosecuted after investigators conclude their work.
The police also said efforts were ongoing to arrest other persons allegedly connected with the Modakeke incident.
