An Osun State House of Assembly member, Kanmi Ajibola, has given Senator Francis Fadahunsi 30 days to resign from the National Assembly over alleged inciting comments against members of the Accord Party ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Ajibola, who represents Oriade State Constituency, also threatened to institute legal proceedings against the senator if he failed to comply with the demand.
Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, had come under fire after a viral video showed him allegedly directing supporters to “kill” members of the Accord Party.
The senator subsequently denied calling for violence, maintaining that his comment was taken out of context.
However, in a letter issued through his solicitor, Ekene Amadi, Ajibola accused Fadahunsi of making threats against opposition members and questioned his continued suitability for public office.
The letter, titled “Resign now, you have a killer’s mind and lacking strength of character for public office representation,” was also copied to President Bola Tinubu and the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
Ajibola alleged that Fadahunsi had been threatening Accord members since October 2025, including claims that they would face arrest and possible killings after the 2026 Osun governorship election.
The lawmaker further alleged that between June 1 and August 10, some Accord members were arrested or detained, while others were allegedly killed.
According to Ajibola, the situation escalated on August 11, when Fadahunsi allegedly directed his supporters to attack Accord members during political activities in Ilesa, just four days before the governorship poll.
He described the alleged conduct as a violation of the senator’s oath of office, insisting that Fadahunsi was no longer fit to represent Osun East in the Senate.
Ajibola therefore demanded that the senator resign within 30 days of receiving the letter and withdraw from future public service.
He warned that failure to comply would lead to legal action against Fadahunsi.
The development comes amid heightened political tension in Osun ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, with the police also summoning Fadahunsi over his controversial remarks and warning political actors against violence and incitement.
