A well-known Christian cleric in Plateau State, Pastor Dochumo, has earned widespread commendation after distributing food items and clothing to Muslim women in a community in Jos.
The humanitarian outreach, which included bags of rice, maize, assorted clothing items among others, was carried out as part of what supporters described as a personal effort to promote peace and religious tolerance in a region often affected by tension.
The gesture quickly gained attention both on social media and within the local community, with many Nigerians praising it as a timely example of interfaith unity at a period when religious sentiments continue to shape public discourse across the country.
Several commentators described the act as a bridge-building initiative capable of strengthening relationships between Muslims and Christians in Plateau State and beyond.
The beneficiary Muslim women expressed deep appreciation for the donation, describing Pastor Dochumo as a “true follower of God” who showed kindness without regard to religious differences.
They collectively offered prayers for him in return.
In a symbolic moment that drew emotional reactions from those present, Pastor Dochumo reportedly went down on his knees to receive their prayers, an act many witnesses described as a powerful display of humility and mutual respect.
Pastor Dochumo is widely known in Plateau State for his outspoken views on insecurity and what he has previously described as attacks on Christian communities in parts of northern Nigeria.
He is often seen at mass burial sites in the Jos axis, where he prays for victims and calls for increased government and international intervention to address violence in affected communities.
