Prospective voters were seen waiting for the arrival of election officials and voting materials at Gulf Junction, Ogo Oluwa Ward 4, Unit 2, in Osogbo, Osun State, on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
The voters were reportedly at the polling unit as early as 7:13 a.m., ahead of the scheduled commencement of voting in the Osun State governorship election.
The situation highlights the early turnout of voters across parts of the state as residents prepare to exercise their constitutional right to choose the next governor of Osun State.
At the polling unit, voters were awaiting the arrival and deployment of the officials and materials required for accreditation and voting.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had advised voters to conduct themselves peacefully and follow the procedures established for the election.
The Osun governorship election is being closely watched, with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke seeking re-election against major challengers, including APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji and ADC candidate Najeem Salaam.
As voting gets underway, voters and stakeholders are expected to maintain peace and allow the electoral process to proceed without intimidation or disruption.
