The Imole Campaign Council, which is backing Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election bid, has called on security agencies deployed for today’s Osun State governorship election to remain neutral and professional.
The appeal was made on Friday, August 14, 2026, as the state prepared for Saturday’s election. The council specifically urged National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to ensure strict compliance with President Bola Tinubu’s directive that security agencies protect voters and provide maximum security at polling units.
In a statement by its spokesman, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the campaign council welcomed the President’s call for security agencies to conduct themselves professionally and impartially during the election.
The council also urged the police and other security personnel to discharge their responsibilities without political bias, stressing that troublemakers should be arrested regardless of their political affiliation.
It further called for adequate protection of voters and polling units, while urging authorities to ensure that the votes cast by Osun residents are properly counted and respected.
The appeal comes amid heightened political tension and security concerns surrounding the closely contested election involving Adeleke, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji and other candidates.
