Osun Guber: APC Chieftain, Joe Igbokwe Reveals ‘Unbelievable’ Mistake Adeleke Made

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Joe Igbokwe, has described Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke’s decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the Accord Party ahead of the governorship election as an “unbelievable mistake.”

Igbokwe argued that Adeleke would have been better off joining the ruling APC, citing President Bola Tinubu’s political influence and family ties to Osun State.

The APC chieftain made the remarks while reacting to the governor’s political realignment ahead of the keenly contested Osun governorship poll.

Adeleke, who had previously contested and won the governorship election on the platform of the PDP, defected to the Accord Party after a prolonged political crisis within the PDP.

His move has continued to generate reactions from political actors across the state, with opposition figures questioning the governor’s decision to abandon the party on which he won his mandate.

Igbokwe maintained that the governor’s decision to join the Accord Party was a major political miscalculation.

According to him, Adeleke should have considered the APC, particularly because of Tinubu’s longstanding political connection to Osun State.

The APC chieftain’s comments come as political parties intensify their campaigns and mobilisation ahead of the governorship election, with the contest expected to be closely fought.

The development has further heightened political tension in Osun, as candidates and their supporters continue to seek strategic alliances and voter support across the state.

Igbokwe’s position also reflects the broader argument within the APC that Adeleke could have gained greater political advantage by aligning with the ruling party at the federal level.

Meanwhile, Adeleke has continued to defend his political decisions, as his supporters insist that his movement to the Accord Party is aimed at protecting his political interests and securing victory at the poll.
