Osun Election: Prepare to Sign Your uncle as a Dancer in your Music — Gov Uzodimma Replies Davido

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has fired back at Afrobeats superstar Davido over the singer’s appeal for a free and fair governorship election in Osun State, telling him to prepare to sign his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, as a dancer in his music band after the election.

Davido, who has been actively mobilising support for his uncle’s re-election bid, had earlier urged an unnamed politician from Imo State to allow the people of Osun to freely choose their next governor without interference.

Responding through his Senior Special Assistant on Electronic and Creative Media, Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, Uzodimma described Davido’s appeal as misplaced.

According to him, it was inappropriate for the singer to direct such comments at the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum merely because his wife is from Imo State.

He argued that Davido’s appeal should instead be directed at the electorate in Osun State, who would ultimately determine the outcome of the election through their votes.

Uzodimma reaffirmed his commitment to a peaceful, free and credible governorship election, stressing that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would continue campaigning for its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

The governor also criticised the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, claiming it had failed to meet the expectations of the people of Osun State.

He said indications from across the state suggested that many voters were ready to embrace a new administration in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

In a swipe at Davido, Uzodimma advised the singer to begin preparing his uncle for life after office rather than making emotional appeals.

“Rather than attempting to influence Governor Hope Uzodimma through emotional appeals, Davido should concentrate on helping his uncle prepare for life after office.

“Perhaps, Davido should also begin making preparations to officially sign his uncle as a dancer in his musical band because, judging by the mood of the electorate, he may well be out of a political job after the August 15, 2026, governorship election,” the statement said.
