Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reacted after the Accord Party recorded a victory in the hometown of former Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, during Saturday’s governorship election.

Davido reacted to the development in a post on his official X account as results from polling units across the state continued to emerge.

Commenting on the result, the singer wrote: “We dey flog Oyetola for him hometown.”

The outcome attracted attention because Oyetola remains a prominent figure in Osun politics and has strong political ties to the area.

The reported victory was among several polling-unit results being announced as electoral officials continued sorting, counting and transmitting results after voting ended.

Supporters of the various political parties have been closely monitoring the emerging figures, with results from different parts of the state generating reactions both on the ground and online.

Davido, who has frequently commented on political developments, particularly those concerning Osun State, also joined the growing social media conversation surrounding the election.

However, the result from Oyetola’s hometown does not determine the overall winner of the governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission is expected to complete the collation of results from polling units, wards and local government areas before announcing the final result.

The election features incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, All Progressives Congress candidate Bola Oyebamiji and African Democratic Congress candidate Najeem Salaam among the major contenders.
