The All Progressives Congress in Ondo State has expressed confidence of securing victory in the forthcoming Ondo South Senatorial Bye-Election scheduled for June 20, 2026.
The party said it remained the dominant political force in the senatorial district, citing its widespread acceptance across the six local government areas of Ilaje, Ese-Odo, Okitipupa, Irele, Odigbo and Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Chairman of the APC Media and Publicity Subcommittee, Hon. Banji Okunomo, the party said its political structure remained firmly consolidated, with key stakeholders and political actors aligned with the ruling party.
According to the statement, the APC’s confidence is anchored on the popularity of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration and the candidacy of its flag bearer, Prof. Dayo Faduyile.
The party described Faduyile as a seasoned politician with deep roots in the district and strong connections across various political and community structures.
“The APC remains the dominant political force in Ondo South, enjoying widespread acceptance across the six local government areas that make up the district,” the statement read.
It added, “Professor Dayo Faduyile represents a consensus-driven choice of the party, enjoying the backing of leaders and stakeholders within the senatorial district.”
The party noted that despite its confidence, it was not taking the election for granted, revealing that about 15 subcommittees had been inaugurated and were actively working to ensure effective mobilisation, coordination and communication ahead of the poll.
According to the APC, its campaign structure has been fully activated, with intensive grassroots engagement ongoing across the district to consolidate support.
The party also claimed that opposition parties lacked the political strength and visibility required to challenge its dominance in the election.
However, it maintained that it remained committed to issue-based campaigns and peaceful democratic participation.
The APC reiterated its commitment to a peaceful, transparent and credible electoral process in line with the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
It expressed optimism that the outcome of the election would reflect the support it enjoys across Ondo South and deliver victory for its candidate.
“We are confident that the outcome of the election will reflect the broad support the APC enjoys across Ondo South and result in a resounding victory for Professor Dayo Faduyile and our great party,” the statement added.
