- Calls for total victory on Saturday
The immediate past Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperative Services, Pastor Olusegun Aiyerin, has called on all 66 wards in Ondo South Senatorial District to ensure nothing short of a resounding and total victory in the forthcoming Saturday, June 20 bye-election.
Speaking on Thursday at his residence on College Road, Ilupeju Quarters, Ilutitun Osooro, while receiving party faithfuls ahead of the election, Pastor Aiyerin urged members not to underestimate the significance of a bye-election or regard it as less important than a general election.
According to him, the deliberate resolve of every ward to deliver an overwhelming 66-0 victory would echo the spirit and momentum of the 18–0 triumph recorded during the last governorship election.
He cautioned party members against staying away to attend to markets, farms, or other engagements, stressing that an election remains an election, irrespective of its category, and must be approached with the seriousness, discipline, and civic commitment it deserves.
Reflecting on the political history of Okitipupa Local Government where he held sway twice as Executive Chairman twice, Pastor Aiyerin noted that elective offices across the spectrum, including the House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and Governorship, had historically eluded Prof. Dayo Faduyile’s Ikoya–Igbisin–Oloto community, despite Prof. Faduyile’s longstanding participation and contributions in public and political struggles.
He observed that a rare opportunity has now emerged through the support and confidence reposed in him by His Excellency, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. He described the moment as a “litmus test” that could finally break the longstanding barrier and enable Prof. Faduyile and his community to “laugh last and laugh best.”
Pastor Aiyerin further described Prof. Francis Dayo Faduyile, OON, a seasoned grassroots politician with extensive experience, tested capacity, and proven leadership credentials for the elective position.
According to him, Prof. Faduyile fully appreciates the significance of this opportunity and is well positioned to justify the confidence placed in him through effective, impactful, and robust representation that the people of Ondo South would proudly identify with at the National Assembly. I sincerely wish Prof Faduyile a great stay at the red chambers
