A major $439 million energy deal has been unveiled to boost electricity supply, create jobs, and accelerate industrial development in Ondo State, signaling a bold step toward economic transformation.
The development, reported on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, is part of broader investment outcomes linked to the state’s aggressive economic drive following the Ondo State Investment Summit 2026, where the government pursued partnerships across energy, infrastructure, and industry.
The deal is expected to strengthen power generation capacity, support gas-based and embedded energy solutions, and provide a reliable electricity backbone for industries and businesses. Analysts note that energy investments of this scale are critical to unlocking productivity, attracting foreign direct investment, and reducing Nigeria’s long-standing power deficit.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration has consistently positioned Ondo as an emerging investment hub, with multiple agreements (including energy and industrial projects) aimed at shifting the state from a consumption-driven economy to a production powerhouse.
At its core, the $439 million agreement represents more than infrastructure; it is a strategic move to drive employment, industrialization, and long-term economic stability in the region.
