The Ondo State Police Command wishes to categorically refute rumours currently circulating within parts of Akure metropolis and across various social media platforms alleging the presence or invasion of bandits in the state capital.
The Command wishes to reassure residents, particularly parents, guardians, students, educational institutions, and the general public, that there is no credible intelligence report or verified incident indicating the presence of bandits or any form of organized criminal invasion within Akure.
Extensive security assessments, intelligence gathering, and surveillance operations conducted by the Command have revealed no threat that should warrant public panic, fear, or disruption of normal social and economic activities.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, psc, mnips, mspsp, has urged residents not to be swayed by unverified information capable of creating unnecessary anxiety and tension within the community. He further encouraged students to continue their academic activities without apprehension, assuring them that adequate security measures have been deployed across the state to safeguard lives and property.
The Command strongly warns against the deliberate dissemination of false information capable of causing public disorder. Individuals found spreading misinformation with the intent to incite fear or panic among residents will be investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies by promptly reporting any suspicious movements or activities through the nearest police station or designated emergency channels.
