The Ondo State Police Command has debunked reports alleging a looming security threat in Odigbo Local Government Area that could lead to the closure of schools, insisting that the area remains calm and secure.
The command said there is no credible intelligence suggesting any terrorist activity or security breach capable of causing panic among residents of Odigbo and neighbouring communities.
This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu.
The statement said ongoing security assessments across the state have not revealed any imminent threat to public safety in the affected local government area.
“The Ondo State Police Command wishes to reassure residents of Odigbo Local Government Area and the general public that there is no recorded security breach or terrorist threat capable of causing panic in the area,” the police said.
It added that the Commissioner of Police had ordered sustained surveillance and intensified visibility policing across the state to prevent any form of security lapse.
According to the statement, special attention is being paid to schools, public institutions, critical infrastructure and other vulnerable locations to ensure continued safety.
Residents were urged to remain calm and go about their daily activities without fear, as security operatives remain fully deployed and vigilant across the state.
The command also cautioned against the spread of false information, warning that unverified reports could trigger unnecessary panic and disrupt public peace.
It further appealed to members of the public to rely strictly on official channels for information and to support security agencies with timely intelligence to strengthen ongoing security efforts.
