Ondo Govt Assures Safe Rescue of Abducted Community Leader

The Ondo State Government has assured residents that efforts are underway to secure the safe release of Chief Adeniyi Adelana, the Baale of Ode Oriya Village in Owo Local Government Area, following his abduction by suspected gunmen.

Chief Adelana, 60, was reportedly kidnapped from his residence in Ode Oriya on Saturday, sparking concern among residents of the community.

In a statement issued in Akure on Sunday, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, said security agencies had intensified efforts to rescue the traditional leader and apprehend those responsible for the crime.

According to him, the Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, has commenced coordinated search-and-rescue operations across strategic locations within and around the area where the incident occurred.

Ajanaku said the swift response by security operatives underscores the effectiveness of the state government’s ongoing investment in strengthening security across the state.

He noted that the government had continued to enhance the operational capacity of security agencies through the deployment of modern intelligence-gathering tools, including surveillance drones and other technological assets.

The commissioner disclosed that preliminary intelligence reports suggested that security operatives were making significant progress in tracking the abductors.

He expressed confidence that ongoing operations would lead to the safe rescue of the community leader and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

The state government also reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, assuring residents that it would continue to support security agencies in tackling criminal activities across Ondo State.
