Ondo govt approves N3.47b for rural access, agricultural marketing project

 

 

Ondo State Government has approved the sum of N3.47 billion counterpart funds for the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).

 

 

The fund was approved during Ondo State Executive Council meeting held on 13th of March, 2024.

 

 

Addressing newsmen at a press briefing in coco conference hall on Thursday, The Special Adviser on information and strategy to Governor Aiyedatiwa, Akogun Olugbenga Omole added that the Project would see many feeder roads asphalted to connect rural dwellers to cities and drive the economy of the State through Agriculture, while other life impacting community projects are equally executed.

 

 

According to him Prince Adu Omotayo was also approved as the new Asinigbo of Isinigbo in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

 

 

The Commissioner for Energy, Mines and Mineral Resources, Engr. Razaq Obe who also addressed the newsmen noted that as part of commitment to transforming Akure, the state capital into smart city, Ondo State government has approved ‘Light-Up Akure’ Project. A street lighting system via solar-powered light.

 

 

 

He stressed that the streetlight project was unanimously approved by the Executive Council as part of the agenda of Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa administration’s 21st century paradigm shift for sustainable development in the State.

 

 

The council also revealed that the budget allocation for the Light Up Akure project amounts to N500 million, attributing this increase to the ongoing dollar-to-naira crisis, which has led to significant price hikes.

 

 

In the same vein, the Council also approved the appointment of warrant Chiefs for the purpose of appointing new Afa of Oke-Agbe in Akoko North West Local Government Area.
