Ondo electoral commission distributes sensitive materials ahead of LG Election

The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) has begun distributing non-sensitive materials to all 18 local government areas ahead of the local government elections scheduled for January 18.

This was confirmed on Saturday in Akure by the commission’s chairman, Joseph Aremo, through a statement issued by ODIEC’s press officer, Bisi Lawan.

Ballot boxes and other essential materials have been dispatched, and ad-hoc staff have been recruited and trained for the exercise.

The commission has also engaged with key stakeholders to ensure a smooth election process.

ODIEC is collaborating with security agencies to safeguard the materials and maintain order during the elections, NAN reports.

The commission has pledged to conduct a peaceful and credible process, urging voters to participate actively.

Political parties and candidates have been advised to avoid violence and adhere to election guidelines to promote a fair contest.
