The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives election committee chairman in Ondo State has officially announced the results of its primary elections, held across various federal constituencies. The announcement was made by Hon. Iboroma Harry Dabibi, during a press briefing on 17th May 2026.
In his address, Hon. Dabibi expressed gratitude to the party leadership for their trust in the committee, stating, “It is a great honour to address you today at this important press briefing to inform you that the Primary Election Committee constituted by the National Working Committee of our great Party has successfully concluded the first phase of its assignment.”
Federal Constituencies and Results:
Akoko North East/North West:
Ifeoluwa Ehindero emerged victorious with 22,304 votes. Other candidates included Oseniyi Oyeniyi with 118 votes, Ibrahim Moruf Tosin with 330 votes, and Adedipe John who received 0 votes.
Akoko South East/South West:
Hon. Adefarati Gboyega won with 1,865 votes. The results also included Dr. Ategbole Olusegun Victor, who received 12,011 votes (invalid due to not being cleared by the Screening Committee), and Ajongbolo Seun Oluwasina with 74 votes.
Akure North/Akure South:
Hon. Omowunmi Olatunji Ohowovoriole secured 9,237 votes to win. Other candidates were Hon. Bamidele Ologunloluwak with 549 votes, Hon. Mayokun Lawson-Alade with 73 votes, and Hon. Dennis Fadairo with 2 votes.
Okitipupa/Irele:
Dr. Olumuyiwa Daramola was declared the winner with 6,547 votes. Other aspirants included Olujimi Adekanle with 27 votes, Prince Jimi Odimayo with 827 votes, Hon. Temitope Iwagun with 74 votes, Barr Kehinde Ikuyinminu with 54 votes, Bidemi Joshua Obayangban who received 0 votes, and Dele Omosehin with 623 votes.
Ondo East/Ondo West:
Dr. Abiola Peter Makinde won with 10,847 votes. The results also showed Bola Fisayo with 1,551 votes, Ade Adeniyi with 10 votes, and Michael Akintomide with 0 votes.
Idanre/Ifedore:
Rasaq Obe is currently pending results due to disqualifications among some candidates, including Hon. Adefisoye Tajudeen Adeyemi, who received 5,463 votes (invalid due to not being cleared by the Screening Committee).
Owo/Ose:
Engr. Kayode Ijalana won with 7,098 votes. Hon. Ayodeji Arowele Samuel received 9,690 votes (invalid due to not being cleared), while other candidates included Olatayo Aribo with 896 votes, Nuel Elehinde with 248 votes, and Abiola Oshodi with 181 votes.
Ilaje/Ese-Odo:
Akingboye Akinleke David emerged victorious with 9,284 votes. Other candidates included Otunba Ayara with 2,554 votes and Hon. Donald Ojogo with 2,038 votes.
Odigbo/Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo:
Hon. Matthew Oyerimade secured 12,744 votes to win. Other candidates included Hon. Sumisola Fajerimokun-Ajay with 471 votes, Hon. Festus Adefirany with 1,944 votes, and Dr. Olutunji Felder with 147 votes.
Hon. Dabibi called for unity among party members in the wake of the primary elections, stating, “Elections may generate varying interests, but we must never allow internal bitterness, division, or rancour to weaken our progress. After this primary election, we must all unite as one strong, indivisible family, fully focused on the bigger task ahead: the 2027 general elections to deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Ondo State and all our National Assembly candidates at the poll.”
The announcement of the results comes at a crucial time for the APC, as the party aims to consolidate its position ahead of the 2027 general elections. With calls for unity and cohesion, the leadership seeks to ensure a united front as they prepare for upcoming electoral challenges, Starnews NG reports.
