Three passengers have been confirmed dead while 10 others sustained injuries in a multiple road crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
The accident occurred around 5:10pm on Friday at Long Bridge, opposite Mikano, and involved a Mazda bus, Toyota bus and Toyota Corolla.
The Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps said 16 people were involved in the crash, comprising 12 males and four females.
The FRSC Public Relations Officer, Afolabi Odunsi, disclosed that nine males and one female sustained injuries, while three female victims died in the accident.
According to him, preliminary findings identified speed violation and loss of control as the probable causes of the crash, while investigations are ongoing.
Odunsi said FRSC operatives arrived at the scene six minutes after the crash was reported and immediately commenced rescue operations and traffic management.
Some of the injured victims were taken to AZ Hospital, Magboro, while others were evacuated to the Accident and Emergency Centre, Ojota, for treatment.
The remains of the deceased were deposited at Ifo Morgue and Idera Morgue, Sagamu.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, commiserated with the families of the victims and urged motorists using the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to avoid excessive speed and maintain proper control of their vehicles.
