Hon. Obayangban Bidemi Joshua, Special Assistant to Ondo State Governor on Forestry, has commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the recent procurement of ambulances aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery in the state.
He expressed his appreciation on Friday evening in a message to our correspondent on Whatsapp following the arrival of the first of ten ambulances, with additional units expected to be delivered soon.
In a statement, Obayangban clarified that the tricycle ambulances, which have been circulating on social media and have drawn criticism aimed at the state governor, are part of a government initiative to deploy emergency medical services to rural areas. He explained that this strategy is designed to improve access to healthcare for underserved communities, labelling it an essential emergency plan for primary health services in rural areas.
“This practice is not new to us; it is common in developed countries, including China, where innovative solutions are implemented to ensure medical assistance reaches those in need,” Obayangban stated.
He urged detractors to provide factual criticisms rather than resorting to unfounded allegations that could undermine the government’s efforts. “Criticism should be rooted in facts to avoid blackmailing the government and misusing the privilege of freedom of expression,” he added.
Obayangban’s remarks come at a crucial time as the Ondo State government seeks to enhance healthcare infrastructure and accessibility, particularly in rural communities. His support for the governor’s initiatives reflects a commitment to the well-being of the citizens in the Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency, as he continues to advocate for effective health solutions.
As a House of Representatives aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the upcoming 2027 National Assembly elections, Obayangban’s proactive approach aligns with his vision for a healthier and more empowered Ondo State.
