The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has dismissed insinuations circulating in some quarters that his deputy’s position was under threat, describing the claims as false and baseless.
The rumours, reportedly fueled by a viral video, alleged that the Deputy Governor of the state, Olayide Adelami, was on the verge of being removed from office.
Speaking at a public function, Governor Aiyedatiwa refuted the claims and reaffirmed his confidence in Dr. Adelami, whom he described as a “worthy, amiable Deputy Governor.”
“Mr Deputy Governor, Dr Olayide Adelami, thank you for holding forth for me yesterday when I had to travel. Worthy, amiable Deputy Governor,” the governor said.
Addressing the speculation directly, Aiyedatiwa criticized those behind the viral video, accusing them of spreading falsehoods for attention.
“Some people are spreading one fake video. Those people want to hear words,” he stated. “They claimed they wanted to remove the deputy governor. For where? Where did they want to remove him from? Don’t answer them please; they are only looking for relevance.”
The governor stressed that there was no truth to the alleged plan to remove his deputy, insisting that such a development was impossible.
“That can’t happen because I’m also a Prophet of God,” Aiyedatiwa declared.
The remarks appear aimed at putting to rest growing speculation about a possible rift within the state’s executive arm, as the governor publicly reaffirmed his support and working relationship with his deputy.
