The President of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has extended warm greetings to Nigerians as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-el-Adha alongside the 2026 Children’s Day celebration, while also calling for stronger commitment toward the welfare and protection of Nigerian children.
In his goodwill message, the labour leader urged Nigerians to embrace the values of sacrifice, unity, compassion, and peaceful coexistence associated with Eid-el-Kabir. He stressed that the country’s future depends greatly on how society treats children, especially regarding education, healthcare, security, and moral upbringing.
The NUEE President also expressed concern over the growing socio-economic hardship affecting many families, noting that millions of Nigerian children remain vulnerable to poverty, poor education, child labour, insecurity, and limited opportunities.
He therefore called on government institutions, private organisations, religious bodies, and parents to prioritise policies and actions that improve children’s wellbeing and development.
The statement further described Children’s Day as more than a ceremonial event, but a moment for national reflection on the responsibilities owed to the younger generation.
He encouraged citizens to support initiatives promoting child protection, inclusion, and equal opportunities regardless of background or social status.
The message aligns with wider national calls for renewed investment in child welfare, education, and social development across Nigeria.
