Speaking in a recent interview, the Nollywood star explained that there were moments in her career when she could easily have amassed enormous wealth if she had chosen to compromise her principles.
According to the award-winning actress, she was repeatedly presented with offers that promised significant financial gain but required her to abandon the standards she has always tried to uphold.
“I’ve been put in situations where no one would have known, and I would have taken things and compromised my stand,” she said. “I said no and I walked away. Many times.”
Omotola noted that some of the individuals behind those proposals are still observing her today, emphasising that her decisions were not always about rejecting something illegal or obviously wrong.
Instead, she said her concern was about protecting the values she represents and the message she has consistently tried to promote throughout her career.
“I tell people if I wanted to be a billionaire, I would have been it easily,” she said.
The actress explained that accepting certain deals might have brought financial success but would ultimately have weakened the principles she stands for.
She further disclosed that some of the opportunities appeared harmless on the surface, yet she believed they could gradually “dilute” her voice and influence. For that reason, she chose to walk away from the offers despite the financial rewards attached.
Over the years, Omotola has built a reputation not only as one of Nollywood’s most recognisable faces but also as a public figure known for speaking openly about integrity, social responsibility and staying true to one’s convictions.
