Nollywood actress Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha has announced the death of her father, Leonard Ndukaife Chukwuka, as she mourns the loss of a man she described as her comfort and beloved father.

The actress disclosed the development in an emotional Instagram tribute on Friday, saying her father had “gone to be with the Lord.”

Chukwuka-Akpotha said the loss has left her deeply heartbroken, particularly because her mother died 13 years ago, meaning she has now lost both parents.

“My beloved father, Leonard Ndukaife Chukwuka, has gone to be with the Lord,” she wrote.

“I lost my mother 13 years ago and now that my father is gone, the thought that I have neither parent here anymore breaks my heart in a way I cannot fully explain. So na only me bayi?”

The actress fondly referred to her late father as “my daddy, papa’m, obara’m, my comfort,” while thanking God for granting him a long life.

She expressed gratitude that he lived to see his children and grandchildren, although she noted that the family had hoped he would also meet his great-grandchildren.

Reflecting on the pain of losing a parent, the actress said the passage of time does not make such a loss easier, as loved ones would always desire another opportunity to speak with or embrace their parents.

“No matter how many years we are given with a parent, we still want one more conversation, one more embrace, one more day,” she wrote.

Chukwuka-Akpotha disclosed that she initially kept her father’s death private while trying to process her grief before deciding to make the announcement publicly.

She subsequently asked the public to remember her, her siblings and the entire Chukwuka family in their prayers.

The actress said details of her father’s burial arrangements would be announced after the family had finalized them.

Paying a final tribute to her father, she wrote: “Rest well, Olowo of Ikate, my father. I will always love you.”

She ended the emotional tribute with references to Proverbs 17:6 and Psalm 34:18, drawing comfort from her faith during the difficult period.
