Veteran actress and pastor, Apostle Dr. Eucharia Anunobi, has shared her candid views on the role of money in romantic relationships, stressing the importance of men having their own financial independence.
Speaking on the Honest Bunch podcast, Dr. Anunobi explained that a man’s sense of self-worth and identity is closely tied to his ability to provide.
“There’s no man that feels like he is a complete man when a woman is feeding him. A man wants to be able to tell a woman ‘sit down there, shut up.’ It’s a male thing,” she said.
She elaborated that men should be financially responsible for basic household needs, including rent, utility bills, and food.
“A man needs to have his own money. Yes, you are an actor, you like me, but do you have money to pay our rent? To pay light bills? To buy the foodstuffs we are going to eat? These are responsibilities,” Dr. Anunobi explained.
Reflecting on women’s perspectives, she added that even financially independent women often enjoy being cared for by their partners.
“I’m all female and I want to be taken care of. I want to stretch my hand and collect all your money,” she said. “Even when a woman is independent, there’s joy in being provided for—it’s the act of care that counts, not just wealth.”
Dr. Anunobi’s remarks underscore the enduring belief that financial responsibility and mutual support are key pillars in a successful relationship, highlighting both practical and emotional dynamics between partners.
