Nigeria Under-20 international Daniel Daga has been sentenced to six months in prison by a Norwegian court after being convicted in a sexual assault case.
The 19-year-old midfielder was found guilty by the Nordmøre and Romsdal District Court of engaging in a sexual act without the consent of the other party.
The incident occurred in Norway, where the case was investigated and later brought before the court. Following the ruling, Daga is expected to serve the six-month jail sentence handed down by the court.
Daga had emerged as one of the promising young talents in Nigerian football, earning recognition through his performances with Nigeria U‑20 national football team.
His displays in midfield had drawn attention from scouts and football stakeholders within Nigeria and abroad.
However, the conviction now casts uncertainty over the young player’s future in professional football, as legal consequences and potential disciplinary measures could affect his career trajectory.
As of the time of reporting, neither Daga’s representatives nor the Nigeria Football Federation have released an official statement regarding the court’s decision.
