The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over allegations that he illegally sold and supplied military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal groups.
The announcement was made on Thursday in a statement signed by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations at the Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, Major Oluwatope Aluko.
According to the statement, preliminary investigations linked the soldier to the alleged illegal activities after he reportedly absconded from his duty post at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory on 3 June 2026.
The Army said Amutu has since been declared wanted by the appropriate military authorities, adding that security operatives are making concerted efforts to trace and arrest him.
“Intensive efforts are underway to locate and apprehend him to face a full investigation and appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with extant military laws,” the statement said.
Reaffirming its commitment to discipline and accountability, the Nigerian Army stressed that it maintains zero tolerance for misconduct or any act capable of undermining its operational effectiveness, integrity and reputation, or posing a threat to national security.
The Corps warned that any military personnel found to have aided terrorists, criminals or other non-state actors through the unauthorised sale, diversion or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements or other controlled items would face the full weight of both military and civil laws.
The Army also appealed to members of the public to assist ongoing efforts by providing credible information that could lead to Amutu’s arrest. It urged anyone with useful information to report to the nearest military formation or any security agency.
It further reassured Nigerians of its unwavering commitment to professionalism, accountability and the protection of military assets, pledging to strengthen internal control measures while ensuring that every allegation of misconduct is thoroughly investigated and anyone found culpable is held accountable.
