The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has opened an investigation into alleged child abuse linked to daycare centres following viral social media posts. The agency, in a statement on 24 February 2026, called on anyone with “factual information, evidence, direct knowledge, or who was personally affected” to come forward confidentially.
The controversy emerged after posts resurfaced from singer Simisola “Simi” Kosoko, recalling her time assisting at her mother’s daycare in 2012–2013. Some users interpreted the posts as inappropriate, prompting calls for scrutiny. Simi has denied any wrongdoing, saying the posts merely reflected everyday childcare activities.
NAPTIP affirmed that all credible claims will be thoroughly investigated, urging the public to provide verifiable evidence to support the inquiry while ensuring the protection of children remains paramount.
