The family of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-rufai, has called for his immediate release following reports that he suffered a nosebleed while in detention.
In a statement issued on behalf of the family, relatives expressed deep concern over his health condition, alleging that the incident occurred while he was being held by authorities. They warned that the development raises serious questions about his wellbeing and the conditions of his confinement.
According to the family, El-Rufai experienced persistent nose bleeding, prompting fears about possible underlying medical complications. They stated that he requires urgent medical attention and should not be kept in custody under circumstances that could endanger his health. “We are deeply worried about his condition. The nose bleeding is a serious warning sign, and he needs immediate medical care in a proper facility,” a family representative said.
The family insisted that continued detention without adequate healthcare access could worsen his condition, urging authorities to prioritize his safety.
Beyond medical concerns, the family renewed calls for his release, arguing that there is no justification for keeping him in custody, especially given what they described as deteriorating health.
They appealed to relevant authorities to either grant him bail or allow him access to independent medical evaluation, emphasizing that his constitutional rights must be respected.
Supporters of the former governor have also taken to social media to demand transparency regarding his condition and the circumstances surrounding his detention.
