NAF Constitutes Special Forces Capacity to Combat Terrorism, Insecurity

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified efforts to enhance its operational effectiveness in the fight against terrorism, insurgency, kidnapping and other security threats through advanced Special Forces training programmes.

In a statement issued on Sunday, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, , disclosed that the Regiment Training Centre Annex (RTCA) in Bauchi conducted the final Physical Fitness Test for participants of Special Forces Course 13/2026 on May 30.

According to Ejodame, the exercise forms a critical stage of the selection process for elite military operations, designed to identify personnel with the resilience, discipline, endurance and combat mindset required for Special Forces duties.

He said the rigorous assessment subjected trainees to demanding physical and mental challenges aimed at evaluating their readiness for high-risk operations in complex security environments.

The Chief of the Air Staff, , stressed the strategic significance of the training, noting that Nigeria’s evolving security challenges require highly skilled and mission-ready personnel capable of responding effectively to emerging threats.

Aneke reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to supporting ongoing counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency and internal security operations across the country.

“The Nigerian Air Force will continue to train, equip and deploy personnel capable of taking the fight to terrorists, kidnappers and other criminal elements wherever they may be found,” he stated.

He added that criminals who threaten innocent citizens and destabilise communities would find no safe haven, emphasizing the Air Force’s determination to protect Nigerians and safeguard national security.

The Commandant of RTCA Bauchi, , said the exercise was structured to ensure that only candidates demonstrating exceptional physical fitness, determination and operational readiness advance in the programme.

Akpan noted that Special Forces operatives are frequently deployed in austere and hostile environments where mission success depends on physical endurance, mental toughness and unwavering commitment to duty.

He described the final Physical Fitness Test as a key benchmark for assessing trainees’ preparedness for future special operations responsibilities.

The Nigerian Air Force said the exercise reflects its determination to maintain a highly capable force ready to support military operations nationwide and respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.
