The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has announced the results for the 2026 June/July National Business Certificate and National Technical Certificate examinations, achieving an 81.24 per cent pass rate.
Dr. Aminu Mohammed, Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, announced the results at a news conference in Benin on Wednesday. He reported that 79,503 candidates—81.24 per cent of the 97,863 graded—secured five credits or more, including English Language and Mathematics. This marks a significant improvement from the 68.18 per cent pass rate recorded in 2025.
“The improvement recorded in the 2026 examination is encouraging and demonstrates the collective efforts of candidates, teachers, schools, parents and the wider education system,” Mohammed said.
Additional findings from the 2026 results include:
- 91.53 per cent (89,580 candidates) obtained five credits and above, with or without English Language and Mathematics, compared to 83.28 per cent in 2025.
- 24.65 per cent (24,128 candidates) were certified as craftsmen.
- A 97.80 per cent attendance rate, with 97,867 candidates sitting for the exams out of 100,069 registered.
The results were released 52 days after the final paper, which the Registrar cited as a commitment to timely service delivery. Regarding examination integrity, Mohammed reported 847 candidates were involved in malpractice across 1,554 incidents, representing 1.55 per cent of those who sat for the exams. He noted this figure is lower than the previous year, attributing the decline to the board’s ongoing measures to curb such activities.
The Registrar advised candidates to check their results exclusively through NABTEB’s official portal and warned against fraudulent claims from individuals offering to alter or upgrade results, stating that no one has the authority to change a legitimately awarded grade.
