Veteran Nigerian comedian and actor Julius Agwu has revealed that he lost sexual function after undergoing brain surgery in the United States in 2015.
Agwu made the disclosure during a recent episode of the Beer Parlour Talk Show, where he opened up about the physical and personal challenges he experienced following his health crisis.
While discussing the effects of the surgery on his body, the host asked whether the condition had affected his sexual function. Agwu responded that his manhood stopped working after the surgery. His statement was made while discussing the relationship between the brain, nerves and the effects he experienced after the operation.
The comedian underwent brain surgery in 2015 in the United States after doctors discovered three tumours in his brain, with one reportedly about the size of a golf ball.
Agwu has previously spoken about the severity of his health battle. After returning from the surgery, he travelled to London for a comedy show but was rushed to hospital shortly before the performance. He later spent about three months in a coma in a London hospital, according to his earlier account.
During the latest interview, Agwu also became emotional while recalling how the illness affected his career and relationships. He said some friends stopped communicating with him during his difficult period and alleged that his former manager also left and took his money.
He further spoke about memory problems which he says developed after the brain surgery.
Agwu remains one of Nigeria’s prominent comedians and is widely associated with the combination of comedy and music, which he has described as “music comedy.”
While Agwu linked his loss of sexual function to the surgery, the publicly available reports do not contain an independent medical assessment establishing the precise medical cause.
