MTN Nigeria has confirmed a network disruption affecting customers in parts of Lagos, Oyo, Rivers and Delta states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The telecommunications company announced the outage on Thursday, October 8, warning that some services might be temporarily unavailable in the affected areas.
In a notice to subscribers, MTN said its engineers were working to restore normal services as quickly as possible. The company subsequently apologised to customers experiencing difficulties and reiterated that efforts to resolve the disruption were ongoing.
The disruption has raised concerns among subscribers who rely on mobile connectivity for calls, internet access, banking transactions, business operations and other daily activities.
However, MTN has not disclosed the precise cause of the outage, the number of customers affected or a specific timeline for the complete restoration of services.
The company’s announcement refers to some parts of the five affected locations, meaning it does not establish that MTN’s entire network across those states and the FCT is down.
Subscribers experiencing difficulties are advised to monitor MTN Nigeria’s official communication channels for further updates on the restoration of services.
The company has yet to announce whether customers affected by this particular outage will receive compensation.
