LAGOS — October 8, 2026: Moove, the mobility company founded in Lagos, has announced plans to end its operations in Nigeria after six years, with eligible customers set to receive full ownership of vehicles valued at approximately ₦35 billion.
The company announced the decision on Thursday under its “Thank You Nigeria” initiative, which it said was designed to recognise customers, employees, partners and communities that supported its growth.
Moove said eligible customers currently operating vehicles financed through its Drive-to-Own programme would receive full ownership of the vehicles, with no further payment to Moove for the vehicles themselves from October 1, 2026.
The company also announced that its Nigerian employees would receive a free car as part of the initiative.
Founded in Lagos in 2020 by Ladi Delano and Jide Odunsi, Moove began with 76 vehicles and developed a vehicle-financing model aimed at helping mobility entrepreneurs access cars and eventually own them.
According to the company, more than 9,000 customers have used its Drive-to-Own and rental products in Nigeria, generating about ₦57 billion in revenue through Moove-financed vehicles.
Moove’s exit comes shortly after Uber ended its Nigerian operations on September 2, 2026, after 12 years in the country.
Moove co-founder Ladi Delano told BusinessDay that Uber’s departure significantly changed the company’s Nigerian operating model.
Moove said it will continue its international operations, with about 42,000 vehicles across 29 cities globally.
