Mass Resignation Looms in Aiyedatiwa’s Media Team as Sunday Abire Announces Departure

Akure, Ondo State— Aiyedatiwa’s Special Assistant on New Media, Sunday Olugbenga Abire, has officially announced his resignation from the Ondo State Government, marking a significant confirmation of Starnews NG’s report on the reported mass resignation that may hit the state government before the end of this month.

His farewell message, shared on the Governor’s media platform, highlights the bonds formed in a small team and the challenges faced during their tenure.

In his heartfelt message, Abire reflected on his time in office since joining the government on December 23, 2023. “We were just three in the media team. We bonded,” he noted, expressing gratitude for the support he received during this period. He highlighted the camaraderie among team members, stating, “Sometimes, we faced the frenzy. We shouted where necessary. We kicked. But love continued.”

Despite the emotional weight of his departure, Abire explained that his decision was motivated by an ambition he first conceived in 2019. “Tonight, I am emotional to tell us that I have decided to quit as Special Assistant on New Media to the Governor of Ondo State,” he stated, adding, “I will miss all of us but I am still a click away.”

Shortly after his resignation announcement, Abire shared an update on his Facebook page on Monday morning, expressing that he had communicated his exit plans to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who prayed for him and sanctioned his decision. “In our six minutes conversation, he wished me well in my new assignment,” he wrote.

Just prior to Abire’s announcement, Starnews NG reported that mass resignations loom within Aiyedatiwa’s media team, with many aides planning to quit before the end of February. Though unconfirmed at the time of writing, Starnews NG reports that additional resignations are expected to be announced within the week.

As the Ondo State government navigates this upheaval in its media team, the community is left to wonder about the potential implications for the administration moving forward, particularly as it approaches key political milestones.
