A dramatic scene unfolded at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a man staged a protest, alleging that he was abandoned after spending over ₦30 million to support the party during the 2023 general elections.
The visibly distressed protester arrived at the premises carrying placards and demanding attention from party officials.
He claimed he sold his house and used all his personal resources to finance campaign activities, believing his loyalty would be recognised and rewarded after the elections.
“I gave everything for this party. I sold my house, spent my money, and worked tirelessly. Today, I have nothing, and nobody is listening to me,” he was quoted as saying during the protest.
Eyewitnesses said the man openly expressed frustration over what he described as neglect and broken expectations, insisting he had been left homeless and financially stranded since the conclusion of the elections.
The incident quickly gained attention on social media, sparking mixed reactions.
While some users expressed sympathy and described his situation as tragic, others questioned the wisdom of making such heavy personal sacrifices without formal agreements or guarantees in political engagements.
As of the time of filing this report, the APC has yet to issue an official response to the allegations.
The protest adds to growing public conversations around political loyalty, campaign financing, and the informal nature of support systems within Nigeria’s political space.
