Police in Kubwa, within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have launched a manhunt for a resident, Markus Ismaila, following allegations that he repeatedly stabbed his elder brother during a domestic altercation.

The victim, Williams Ismaila, was taken to Kubwa General Hospital after sustaining multiple injuries in the incident, which occurred on Saturday, 21 March 2026. He is currently receiving treatment.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Williams recounted how a seemingly minor disagreement escalated into violence. He alleged that tensions arose after the suspect ate their elderly father’s breakfast, prompting a confrontation.

According to Williams, the suspect reacted angrily, directing insults at both him and their father. The situation reportedly worsened when another sibling, who was present at the time, was drawn into the dispute.

“He turned on him and started fighting. When I tried to intervene, he pulled out a knife and stabbed me in about five different places,” Williams said, describing the moment the argument spiralled out of control.

Another brother, John Ismaila, said he had been at the rear of the compound when the incident began but rushed inside after hearing raised voices.

“By the time I got in, he had already started fighting. He then stabbed our elder brother several times,” John added.

Police sources confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect, who is currently at large. Authorities have urged members of the public with relevant information to come forward.

The incident has left the family shaken, highlighting how quickly unresolved tensions within households can erupt into serious violence.
