Live Update: Cameoon 2, Burkina Faso 1, in first half of AFCON 2022

The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations gets underway on Sunday afternoon with the opening Group A match between Cameroon and Burkina Faso.

Cameroon is currently leading by 2 against 1 after scoring two penalties following a review on VAR technology.

Initially, Sangare put Burkina Faso in front with 1 goal, but two penalties from Aboubakar mean that Cameroon is in the ascendancy at the break.

In the first half, Cameroon is now with 2 goals, Burkina Faso 1.

Starnews had earlier reported that VAR technology will be used for the coverage of the 52 matches to be played in the Africa Cup of Nations.

VAR means Video Assistant Refree.

Cameroon, hosting the tournament for the first time in 50 years, has seen the build-up overshadowed by the conflict in the country’s Anglophone regions, as well as an escalating Covid crisis, which, at one time, placed the event in doubt.
