Kwara Law Officers’ Strike: Unions Reject ‘No Work, No Pay’ Threat, Warn of Wider Industrial Action

Organised labour has rejected the Kwara State Government’s reported threat to enforce a “no work, no pay” policy against striking state law officers, warning that the dispute could escalate into a nationwide industrial action if not resolved through dialogue.

The dispute stems from an ongoing strike by public law officers in Kwara State, who are demanding improved welfare, better conditions of service, salary parity and enhanced support for the state’s legal institutions.

According to labour leaders, the government’s reported plan to withhold the salaries of workers participating in the strike is unacceptable and could further deepen the industrial crisis.

Speaking with journalists, union representatives maintained that workers have legitimate grievances that deserve constructive engagement rather than punitive measures. They warned that failure to reach an amicable resolution
