Former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has revealed that his daughter encouraged him to work with Peter Obi during political discussions ahead of the 2023 general election and the ongoing 2027 coalition realignments.
Kwankwaso made the disclosure on May 11, 2026, during an interview while speaking on the growing alliance between opposition figures ahead of the 2027 presidential election. He stated that his daughter had strongly advised him to collaborate with Obi because of what she described as the need for credible leadership and national unity.
The former New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate also expressed optimism about building a working relationship with Obi under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), amid ongoing discussions surrounding a possible joint ticket for the next election cycle.
Kwankwaso further stressed that competence and good governance should remain more important than regional or ethnic considerations in determining Nigeria’s future leadership.
His comments come amid increasing opposition coalition talks involving Peter Obi, Kwankwaso, and other political actors seeking to challenge the ruling APC in the 2027 general elections.
