Kuwait has temporarily suspended the issuance of commercial visit visas for all nationalities, including Nigerians, in a move that is expected to disrupt business travel and corporate engagements involving the Gulf nation.
The suspension, which takes immediate effect, means that foreign nationals seeking to travel to Kuwait for short-term business purposes will no longer be able to obtain the visa category until further notice.
Commercial visit visas are commonly used by business professionals attending meetings, conferences, seminars, contract negotiations and other corporate activities. The permits are typically issued at the request of registered Kuwaiti companies and allow a single entry into the country for up to 30 days.
The latest decision is likely to affect companies that rely on face-to-face meetings and cross-border collaborations, forcing many travellers and organisations to reconsider planned visits and adjust their schedules.
According to immigration services firm Fragomen, Kuwaiti authorities have not provided an official explanation for the suspension. No timeline has been announced for when the visa service may resume, with officials only indicating that the measure will remain in place until further notice.
The lack of clarity has created uncertainty for businesses and travellers who had intended to visit Kuwait in the coming weeks and months.
Industry stakeholders and prospective visitors have been advised to monitor official government announcements for updates and make alternative travel arrangements where necessary while awaiting further guidance from Kuwaiti authorities.
