Kidnapping: Ondo Amotekun to Repatriate 30 Women Over Suspicious Circumstances

Akure, Nigeria — The Ondo State Security Network Agency, widely known as the Amotekun Corps, has successfully intercepted a group of 30 women suspected of being strategic informants for kidnapping syndicates and bandits. The women, predominantly married housewives from various northern states, were apprehended in Akure, the state capital, following a high-level intelligence tip-off.

Amotekun authorities raised immediate security concerns due to the sudden influx of these women into the state. During thorough profiling and questioning, the group was unable to provide any logical explanation for their mass travel to Ondo State. None could furnish verifiable local addresses, names of hosts or relatives in the area, or clear employment or business motives.

With Ondo State grappling with a surge of forest-based kidnappings, security operatives strongly suspect that the women were brought into the state capital to gather intelligence and scout potential targets for criminal networks.

In response to the situation, Amotekun Commander, Adetunji Adeleye who spoke in a viral video yesterday emphasized the agency’s commitment to handling the matter with strict adherence to human rights. To promote ethnic harmony, the operation is being conducted in close collaboration with local Hausa community leaders in Akure, who assisted in profiling the women and acknowledged the unverified security risk their presence posed.

Rather than facing detention, it was decided that the women would be immediately repatriated to ensure public safety. Commander Adeleye confirmed that arrangements are in place for the safe transportation of the 30 women back to their respective northern states of origin. The Ondo State Government is covering all costs associated with their return, ensuring that the women are repatriated at no expense to them.

The Amotekun Corps has reiterated its commitment to enhancing border profiling and surveillance within Akure to prevent any further unauthorized or suspicious mass migrations, ensuring the safety and security of the state and its residents.
