The Kano State Police Command has launched an investigation into a 25-year-old woman, Fatima Abdullahi, following the death of her boyfriend, 27-year-old Ismail Sidi Muhammad, in a fire incident at Danbare Quarters, Kano.
According to a statement from the police, officers of the Dorayi Babba Division responded to a distress call on June 19 reporting a fire outbreak at Amana House in the area.
On arrival, emergency responders found Muhammad inside a room with severe injuries, including burns and a head wound. He was immediately rushed to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where he was later confirmed dead while receiving treatment.
Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased had visited his girlfriend, Fatima Abdullahi, when an argument reportedly broke out between them, which escalated into a physical confrontation.
Police further disclosed that the suspect was later seen outside the room raising an alarm that a fire had erupted.
Abdullahi also sustained burn injuries and is currently receiving treatment under police supervision.
A search of the scene led to the recovery of several items, including three knives, a blood-stained high-heeled shoe, two mobile phones, and the deceased’s white Honda vehicle. Officers also recovered ₦446,000 in cash from the vehicle.
The Kano State Police Command said investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident, assuring that further updates will be provided as the probe continues.
