A group of suspected hoodlums attacked a team of journalists and vandalised their vehicle shortly after the conclusion of an All Progressives Congress (APC) event in Kano State.

The incident reportedly occurred moments after the inauguration of leaders of various support groups backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, held at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

According to reports by Daily Feeds Hausa, the journalists were travelling in a vehicle belonging to Pyramid FM Kano when the attackers descended on them. The assailants were said to have used knives and other sharp objects to smash the vehicle’s windows.

Among the journalists affected by the attack were Abdulbaki Ali Ahmad Sharifai of Guarantee Radio and Yakubu Gwagwarwa of Pyramid FM, the report stated.

Photographs circulating online showed extensive damage to the vehicle, including shattered side and rear windows.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and there was no immediate confirmation of injuries at the time of filing this report.

As of press time, security agencies had yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.

The attack has raised fresh concerns about the safety of journalists while carrying out their professional duties and underscores the need for greater protection of media practitioners covering political events across the country.
