British-Nigerian businessman and social media influencer Igho “Tiny” Ubiribo, also known as Denisi or Ego, has died after suffering a fatal complication following a penis enlargement procedure in Thailand.
Ubiribo, 43, reportedly underwent the cosmetic procedure at a clinic in Bangkok in March while on a luxury trip with his wife, Danielle Simba Allen.
An inquest at Inner West London Coroners’ Court heard that about 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine were injected into his penis during the procedure.
Shortly afterwards, Ubiribo and his wife reportedly went for a massage. It was there that he began complaining of chest pain before collapsing twice.
He was taken to Sukhumvit Hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with a pulmonary embolism a potentially life-threatening condition in which a blood clot blocks an artery supplying the lungs.
According to reports presented at the inquest, medical staff carried out CPR on Ubiribo for more than 100 minutes. However, he died in the early hours of March 6.
A postmortem examination conducted in the UK reportedly found cellular material in his lungs that matched the hyaluronic acid used during the cosmetic procedure.
Coroner Jean Harkin subsequently ruled that Ubiribo died from a pulmonary embolism caused by complications arising from the procedure.
Ubiribo had built a sizeable following on social media, with about 185,000 followers on Instagram, where he was known for showcasing his lavish lifestyle.
His death also drew attention during his funeral in London, where he was reportedly buried in a gold coffin said to be worth about $745,000.
Nigerian celebrities, including music star Davido and socialite Cubana Chief Priest, were among those who reportedly attended the funeral.
