Chelsea forward Joao Pedro has ended the club’s wait for a Premier League Player of the Month winner after being crowned the August 2026 recipient.

The Brazilian was selected ahead of eight other nominees, including Chelsea teammate Cole Palmer, following a strong opening to the 2026/27 Premier League season.

Chelsea confirmed that Pedro emerged ahead of Palmer and six other shortlisted players in the public voting process, securing his first monthly Premier League award.

The 24-year-old made an immediate impact in Chelsea’s opening fixture away to Fulham, finding the net just 33 seconds into the match before turning provider for Palmer, whose goal completed the victory.

Pedro maintained his momentum in Chelsea’s next league outing against Brighton at Stamford Bridge, scoring again before setting up Palmer for another goal as the London club secured another win.

His contribution across the two matches gave him four goal involvements and helped Chelsea make a perfect start to their campaign.

The award also ends a near two-year wait for Chelsea, whose last Player of the Month winner was Palmer in September 2024.

Palmer had previously claimed the prize in April 2024 before adding another monthly honour five months later.

Although Palmer was once again among the nominees for the August award, he finished behind Pedro in the public vote.

Pedro becomes the latest Chelsea player to receive the Premier League’s monthly individual recognition, following Palmer’s two awards in the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons.

The forward will now aim to sustain his impressive form as Chelsea continue their league campaign.
