JAMB Opens Registration For NCE, Agriculture Programmes As FG Waives UTME

By Paul Joseph

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced registration for candidates seeking admission into Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programmes in Colleges of Education and Non-Technological Agricultural Programmes in Polytechnics, following the Federal Government’s decision to waive the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) requirement for the courses.

The announcement was made in a statement issued by JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr. Fabian Benjamin on Thursday, who urged eligible candidates with the required O’Level qualifications to register at any Institutional Professional Registration Centre (IPRC) in Colleges of Education or any JAMB Professional Registration Centre (PRC) nationwide.

According to the Board, candidates applying for the affected programmes are no longer required to sit for the annual UTME, as a new admission process has been introduced to ensure only qualified applicants are admitted while maintaining academic standards.

JAMB explained that interested candidates only need to present their O’Level credentials at designated registration centres to complete the admission process.

The Board also disclosed that candidates who had already sat for the 2026 UTME but have now decided to pursue NCE or Non-Technological Agricultural Programmes can convert their existing applications at no extra cost by visiting any IPRC or JAMB PRC.

JAMB encouraged prospective applicants to take advantage of the opportunity by completing their registration promptly at the approved centres across the country.

According to the Board, the initiative is designed to expand access to teacher education and agricultural training programmes while preserving the quality and integrity of admissions into the institutions.
